São Paulo, 10 de fevereiro de 2014 – Em linha com o princípio multistakeholder do Encontro, o presidente do NETmundial , Professor Virgílio Fernandes Almeida, convidou nomes distintos para co-presidir e liderar a organização do NETmundial.
Da academia, Jeanette Hofmann: especialista em governança da Internet, pesquisadora sênior no Science Research Center Berlin for Social Research (WZB), chefe do setor de pesquisas da London School of Economics and Political Science, e também professora na Humboldt – Universidade de Berlin.
Como representante da sociedade civil, Subi Chaturvedi, que é uma ativista-acadêmica, da Universidade Delhi, e também pesquisadora no Instituto Indiano de Tecnologia (IIT-D). Como crítica de mídia, escreve extensivamente sobre as melhores práticas em governança da Internet e defende a abordagem multistakeholder para preservar os valores fundamentais da Internet.
Representando o setor privado, Andile Ngcaba é presidente, fundador e acionista majoritário do grupo investimento Convergence Partners.
Complementando o grupo e representando a comunidade técnica está Fadi Chehade, presidente e CEO da ICANN, com mais de 25 anos de experiência na construção de empresas líderes na área da Internet.
Juntos, a presidência multistakeholder irá assegurar a coordenação entre todos os comitês e o sucesso da conferência. A primeira reunião do grupo acontece nesta sexta-feira, dia 14 de fevereiro, oportunidade que serão discutidos novos mecanismos de coordenação, processo de elaboração de documentos, entre outros trabalhos internos.

The Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of Internet Governance will focus on crafting Internet governance principles and proposing a roadmap for the further evolution of the Internet governance ecosystem. The meeting is scheduled for April 23rd and 24th 2014 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will be live webcast enabling remote participation. The meeting follows an initiative proposed by CGI.br and /1net. #netmundial2014
