Sao Paulo, February 6, 2014 – Responsible for overseeing the overall strategy of the event and to promote the involvement of the international community around the topics that will be discussed, the High-Level Multistakeholder Committee announces the arrival of nine nations that will be represented at a government level. They are: Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, Indonesia, South Korea, Tunisia, Turkey and United States of America.
Chaired by the Minister of Communications of Brazil, Mr. Paulo Bernardo Silva, the Committee will have 12 seats for government representatives. The remaining three countries will be announced shortly. In addition to these countries, two members of international organizations appointed by the United Nations’ Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon were also announced. They are: Mr. Hamadoun Touré, Secretary-General of International Telecommunication Union (UN ITU) and Mr. Wu Hongbo, Deputy Secretary-General of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).
To integrate this NETmundial Committee, there are also 12 members of the multistakeholder international community with three representatives for each community. For the civil society, Jovan Kurbalija, Stephanie Perrin and Louis Pouzin; for the private sector, Joe Alhadeff, Christoph Steck and Jimson Olufuye; for academia, Jeanette Hofmann, David Johnson and Derrick Cogburn; and for the technical community, Kathy Brown, Tarek Kamel and Mathieu Weill.

The Global Multistakeholder Meeting on the Future of Internet Governance will focus on crafting Internet governance principles and proposing a roadmap for the further evolution of the Internet governance ecosystem. The meeting is scheduled for April 23rd and 24th 2014 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and will be live webcast enabling remote participation. The meeting follows an initiative proposed by CGI.br and /1net.
